I am originally from Pennsylvania, and moved to North Carolina in 2004. I have always loved sports, exercise, and PE class! I earned a bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Penn State University in '04, before moving to North Carolina and receiving a Masters Degree in Health Education from ECU along with National Board Certification. I'm recently completed my doctorate of education in Kinesiology through UNC-Greensboro. My dissertation research was on the relationship that exists between fitness levels of students and their academic achievement, while analyzing the role poverty plays on this relationship. My research findings strongly suggest that physically fit students in Wake County perform better academically than those who are less fit. Read my research findings here:

I am a big believer that students who are more physically active and fit become more successful in the classroom. In my free time, I have many hobbies, including exercising, playing ice hockey, golfing, personal training, and riding my motorcycle.
I have been teaching Physical Education at Brentwood for 11 years now, and am usually known as 'Coach Jones.' I look forward to integrating even more Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math into our PE lessons this year. My ultimate goal as a physical educator is to teach all my students how to be physically active and healthy individuals for a lifetime.
