SHAPE America's Appropriate Fitness Testing Practices
This link provides appropriate and inappropriate practices for youth fitness testing, as recommended by our national organization, SHAPE America.
First in Fitness Testing:
- All 2nd-5th Graders
- Assessed in mile run, 100 yard dash, shuttle-run, long jump, jump rope, and pull-ups
- Students with best scores in the grade will compete on Brentwood's First in Fitness Team
- First in Fitness Competition is Tuesday, March 8th, at Southeast Raleigh HS
Fitnessgram Assessments:
- All 4th-5th Graders
- Assessed in PACER, push-ups, sit-ups, and sit-and reach
- These tests assess a students cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility
- 4th and 5th graders may view their fitness assessments and set personal goals at : www.focusedfitness.org
